About the BYU–Hawaii Local Newsletter

The Local Newsletter will share relevant and timely information about public university events, services, news, and other campus updates.

The newsletter will serve residents of Laie and surrounding communities including prospective students and their families, alumni, retirees, missionaries, Church leaders, local organizations, community leaders, and market vendors.

Newsletter Content

The Local Newsletter will focus only on information relevant to the community, including:

  • University and community-related announcements
  • Recent BYU–Hawaii news and articles
  • Upcoming events that are open to the public
  • Applicable construction updates, closures, and notices

To keep the newsletter concise, descriptions will be brief, and links will be used for additional information. Only confirmed events and information will be included.

Distribution

The newsletter will be distributed once a month on the first Wednesday at 10 am. This schedule is intended to encourage departments to plan and promote public events for several weeks in advance.

Recommendations

Departments can submit upcoming monthly public events and relevant announcements through the Marketing and Communications Request form to be considered for inclusion.

Submissions must be received on or before the last Wednesday of the preceding month at noon. Late submissions may not be accepted.

Event submissions should include a University Event webpage link with complete and confirmed event details.

Marketing and Communications will select two to three events to highlight based on the newsletter’s purpose, content, and audience. Other approved public events will be included through the University Events webpage link.

Example: Events taking place in September 2026 must be submitted by Wednesday, August 26 at noon to be included in the newsletter distributed on Wednesday, September 2 at 10 am.

About the BYU–Hawaii Worldwide Newsletter

The Worldwide Newsletter will be distributed quarterly and is designed to extend BYU–Hawaii’s connection beyond the local community by sharing event highlights, university news, inspiring stories, and other information relevant to alumni, friends, prospective students, and audiences around the world.
