Department Website Semester Checklist

Update Key Information and Create Upcoming Events

Prepare for the new semester with this guide. Here, you'll find a series of tutorials to help you quickly change and confirm that essential, time-sensitive information is updated.

Phone Numbers

Ensure all phone numbers on your site are current, accurate, and formatted correctly (parentheses for area code, dash before the last four digits). Ask your web team for a list of all phone numbers to verify.

Emails

Make sure all email addresses reflect the correct department or employee names. Your web team can provide a list of all email addresses for verification.

Office Location

Campus construction or department moves may impact office locations—make updates wherever they appear (footer, contact pages, employee profiles, etc.). See more on adding location.

Hours

Confirm your department’s operational or office hours are accurate and easy to locate (footer, hours of operation page, etc.). Remember, Google, Alexa, and AI assistants often use your website for this info. See more on adding hours.

Contact Us/Employee Directory

Update employee tags for new hires and departures. Employee pages are automatically created via PeopleSoft/Workday but need manual detail updates. More guidance on Department Faculty or Staff Directory.

Forms

Check that all web forms work properly, have clear instructions, and submit data to the correct endpoints. More options and guidelines on Web Forms.

Events for the Semester

Create event pages for department events so they appear on the university-wide events calendar and myBYUH.
